BIO
Always having been fascinated with the human mind and how others interact in wider society, I completed degrees in Psychology and Social Work.
Immediately afterwards I completed placements in dual diagnosis youth outreach work, hospital social work, and later, employment in children’s residential care in Australia. Following this, was volunteer work in youth after-school programmes in New Zealand. The years afterwards consisted of social work in the UK Foster Care system, National Health Service, and charity work with children and adults.
One common factor I saw throughout all of this experience has been the need for a holistic approach to one’s wellbeing through one-to-one coaching. I completed a Diploma in Transformational Coaching as I grew determined to empower others to reach a better state of wellbeing both for themselves, and the members of society around them.
I find coaching to be about the nurturing of our inner selves that want justice, support, guidance, and organised solutions to the challenges we are facing in life.
Coaching Style
Holistic mental health and wellbeing coaching addresses you as a whole. While one issue may have led you to coaching, overall you want to feel better. Something feels out of alignment, and because of this, you may be feeling low, exercise less, and/or feel disengaged from your friends, family, and community. The interconnection between your mental, social, and physical health is core to my approach. Additionally, coaching is forward-focused and orientated towards behaviour change, habit formation, and setting yourself up to tackle future challenges independent of coaching.
This enables you to gain greater self-awareness and appreciation for your health. Unlike other coaching approaches, holistic coaching allows for deeper exploration and understanding of emotional issues that are holding you back, as well as looking at the bigger picture: your life as a whole. For you to get the most out of the coaching, and for this to be the best fit, you would also have a similar view.
A lot of my work is based on Carl Rodger’s Person-Centered Approach, which means that I believe you are inherently motivated towards achieving positive functioning, are unique, and are the expert in your own life. You know what is best for you.
You will experience me as non-directive, a good listener, and positively accepting. I am guiding and/or partnering with you as opposed to giving you advice or telling you what to do. We co-create action plans based on your goals for your episode of coaching sessions. Clients say they leave coaching feeling empowered, focused, and listened to.
